La Moderna Mexican Cafe is a family owned and operated kitchen in West Dallas, just minutes from Trinity Groves. Our food isn’t from a book — it’s a collection of recipes passed down from generation to generation, carried from Mexico to a little white building on Morris Street.
At the heart of it all are a mother and her daughters who cook side by side every morning. They press the tortillas by hand, simmer the salsas from scratch, and season every dish the way abuela taught — the same way her own mother taught her. Every gordita, every bowl of pozole, every plate that leaves our kitchen carries a little of that history.
It’s a true scratch kitchen: nothing shortcut, nothing store-bought — just authentic, homemade Mexican food made with the patience and pride of a family that has cooked this way for generations. Come in a stranger, leave as familia.
